People love to watch videos, and Google loves websites where the visitors linger for a while. You can use this to your advantage if you embed video on your website to attract, inform, and entertain your visitors.
It is easy to embed a video from Youtube, but since you are required to provide a link to the youtube site, you risk losing your visitors to the “black hole”, which grabs and absorbs surfers with its never-ending list of recommended videos.
There are a few good ways to embed video on your site without the need to link to Youtube or any other online video sharing service.
One thing you must consider first…videos tend to have large file sizes (in excess of 100 MB) and if you upload them to your own site you may end up with excess bandwidth charges from your host.
If you still want to host the videos on your own site, you can create players with JW Player or Flow Player. In addition, Camtasia lets you create players to embed Camtasia video on your site.
A great alternative to this is Amazon S3, which is introduced in the first video below. The charges are minimal and Amazon is a very stable company (as far as internet companies go) so you don’t really have to be concerned with them going out of business and taking your video with them. If you use Amazon S3 you can easily create players with a service such as Ezs3.com, which is what the Marketing Rebel Insider’s Club uses.
